Ethel Mae (Hanson) Mahoney, age 87,
of Chanhassen, MN, formerly of Edina,
MN, died peacefully on Sunday, March
22, 2020 at Olive Branch Estates
Assisted Living in Chanhassen.
There will be a private family graveside
service at the Pioneer Cemetery in
Chanhassen. Additional funeral services
will be held at a later date at the Crown Pointe Church in Richfield, MN.

Ethel was born on October 14, 1932 in Alma Center, WI, to Edward and
Esther (Larson) Hanson, one of 13 children. She attended Lincoln High
School in Alma Center, WI. When she came to Minneapolis she earned a
music diploma from North Central Bible Institute in 1955 and then
furthered her education at the MacPhail College of Music in Minneapolis,
MN, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education in 1956. She
worked for the Hennepin County Library as Senior Payroll Leader for 24
years. She was a 50 year resident of the Morningside Area in Edina, MN,
before moving to Chanhassen and the Olive Branch Estates in June of
2018. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in
Richfield, and played music there for many years. For the last 10 years
she has been a member of Crown Pointe Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include her loving children, Tim (Jill) Mahoney of Edina,
Cindy (Bob) Egelston of Chanhassen, Jon Mahoney (Wendy McKean) of
Rochester, Crystal Mahoney of Edina; 9 grandchildren, Nicole (Isaac)
Will, Michael (Ingrid) Mahoney, Andrew (Karen) Mahoney, Molly
(Jamie) Johnson, Phillip (Ellen) Egelston, Benjamin Egelston, Joshua
Mahoney, Mikaela (Phil) Sandager, Sara Jane Mahoney & fiance’ Zach
Jusczak; 10 great grandchildren, Eliana, Cassin, Milo, Lola, William,
Charlie, Mila, Josie, Lucy and Margo; two sisters, Bonnie (Mander)
McPherson of Edina, Eunice Call of Alma Center, WI; many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
