RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND SUBMIT, ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY OF CHANHASSEN, A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FINAL
APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS: The Chanhassen City Council has determined that
installation of sanitary sewer and water service, into the Carver
Beach area of the city, will promote, and protect the health, safety
and welfare of the community.
WHEREAS: The city engineer has determined that said sanitary
sewer and water improvements will cost an est~mated $5,300.00 per
~ residential unit.
WHEREAS: The city has determined, through the analysis of
Public Assistance Roles that twenty-four (24) families in the Carver
Beach area are on some form of public assistance.
WHEREAS: Said identified low income families have novisable
means of financing the pending assessment for sanitary sewer and water.
WHEREAS: The Department of Housing and Urban Development provides
for the making of grants to communities to assist low and moderate
income families.
WHEREAS: The City of Chanhassen duly held two (2) public hearings
on February 2, 1976, and February 9, 1976, respectively, to ascertain
the general public's impression and desire to apply for a Community
Development Block Grant.
WHEREAS: The City Council, after public testimony unanimously
approved and submitted a pre application to the Department of
Housing and Urban Development for a Community Development Block
Grant.
WHEREAS: The Metropolitan Council found said Community Development
Block Grant to be positively consistent with area wide plans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City
of Chanhassen:
1. The Mayor shall sign, on behalf of the community, an
application for Federal Assistance requesting $127,200.00 for the
purpose of paying project unit assessment charges for all low and
low/moderate income families and other hardship cases living in
the Carver Beach area where, in the opinion of the Chanhassen City
Council, such families and individuals qualify for assessment
exemptions and/or financing project assessment charges for all low
and low/moderate income families and other hardship cases living
in the Carver Beach area where, in the opinion of the Chanhassen
City Council, such families and individuals qualify for assessment
deferments as permitted by the Department of Housing and Urban
Development and the Law.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Chanhassen
this 12th day of July, 1976.
