Park and Reoreation Meeting
'rhe meeting was called to order at 7.45 'O.m. Members "present were Denis Stedman,
Shirley Chellis, Phyllis Pope, Pat Boyle and chairm~n Joe TIetz.
The minutes from the Feb. I meeting were aporoved.
Dale Gregory was present as a representative of the Fire Dept. re(lUestinr, use
of Lake Ann Park for a softball tournament during the first week-end in June.
Three fields will be needed on Fri. and Sat. nights. Beer will probably not
be sold because of the high cost of insurance. He requested that no fee be
charged for park entrhnce those days. Ph,y"llis Pope made a motion that the
Fireman be allowed to hold the tournament on those days and that no fee be
charged. D nis stedman seconded the motion. It carried unamoualy.

Members of the Park and Reo disoussed the park ei tuation with Dale Gregory,
the need for a light at the s~ating rink at Chanhassen Estates, need for more
lighting at the hockey rini<s, Dale said that more trash canawould be added
at the Lake Ann beach this summer.
Walt Hobbs was present at the meeting as an observer.

Picnic in the Park
The City Council has aporoved the hiring of a Community Services Director
on a 1 year basis, to be reviewed at the end pf that time. Applications
have been recieved and it is anticipated that a nerson will be hired by
April 1.
Lion's Club Projects Gary O'Neill and Spencer Schram were present to discuss
the Lion's Club prooosal for a Tot Lot at Lake Ann Park. They presented a rough
draft and showed the P;~rk ~ Rec pictures of some features of the Tot Lot.
Some discussion oentered on the area chosen by the ballfields, whether the
children playin~ in the Tot Lot would be proteoted from b ,in~ hit by flying
balls. Denis dtedman moved that" the Park and Rec. ap'Orove the concept of
the Lion's Club 'rot Lot project and thc-,t the City Council approve it also.
Joe Betz seconded the motion. It oasGed. Also discussed was the possibility
of the city purchasing materials c,nd the Lions donatinp: their time and labor,
on the 3 year project.
Ordinance 14, IndustriHI Clauser Joe Betz discussed the ordinanoe with Eden
Prairie' 6 Park Jirector. 'rhe POSSEl bili ty of havinli; him speak to the Park and
Rec was discussed. Eden Prairie's ordinance will be used ;J8
a model and presented to the council for a first refiding on Maroh 7th. Don
Ashworth said it would be necessary to seoarate the industrial ordinance from
the NeiGhborhoo;i .'ar.'C OrdJ.nance. Joe Bet z will prepa.re it for presentation
to the Council.

New Park and Rec Member Interview. Barb 7isher from Sunrise Hills was present
and interested in serving on the Park and :tee Commission. She was interviewed.'
