Park and Recreation Commission Minutes
November 1, 1917
Chanhassen Elementary School
The meeting was called to order at 7:5Q p.lI. by the Chairman, Joe Betz.
CoMmission members present were pat BQyle, Francis Callahan, Shirley Chellis,
Mary Muehlhausen, Phyllis Pope, ~eni8 Stedman, and Walter Coudron who had to
leave early. ,:t;,
The minutes of the October 18, ~977 .eettng were oorrected as follows:

The fourth paragraph should read:
Shirley Chellis asked about the n~ber of participants in the
pro~ram last year. Lloyd estimated ther.. were about one
hundred and fifteen regist~d last ye~rr He; also stated
that there were "bout 400 children (not' 'necessarily all
Chanhassen residents) on t~ ic~ each we~k and, in addition,
adults use the rinks. '

The seventh paragraph should read;
Pat Boyle made 8 motion to have the Community Services Department
advertise for bids for new electrical service in the warming
house with enough capacity to provide adequate lighting for the
hockey and general skating rinks. Mary Muehlhausen seconded the
motion. Motion carried. .'
Phyllis Pope added that there was a discussion on this Commission having a
joint meeting with the PlanningComrnission to tour parks in the Minneapolis
area on October 22, 1977.
Added also was the discussion on Western Hills Park. It was suggested that
a naturalist come out and give his recanmendations for plants, trees, etc.
Pat Bo,.le and Phyllis Pope were to meet with the naturalist.
A. motion was made to aocept the minutes as aMended by Phyllis Pope
The motion was seconded by Pat ~oy1e.
Motion carried.
There was a discussion on how to correct minutes of previous meetings. It
was agreed that current minutes vi 11 reflect any corrections of previous
meeting's minutes. .

eight Hubbell lights.
7. Have each vendor specify how much illUl'llination his service
will provide.
Phyllis Pope seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Fran Callahan will find out the annual cost of operating both the quartz
lights and the Hubbell lights.
It w.s also recommended by Pat Boyle that we go outside of Chanhassen for
80llle of the estimates.
Denis Stedman discussed the possibility of getting a master plan for hockey,
80ecer, etc.
Joe Bets recommended calling a special meeting in view of the time problem
for '"?xt Tuelllday, November 8, 1977 at 7;00 p.m. to review the estimates.

There was a discussion about the new MTS building on highway 5. MTS people
have offered to put up some sort of buffer between their property and the
residents of Chanhassen Eata tee.
Denis Stedman made a motion that the meeting be adjourned at 10:15 p.m.
