Chai:rm:m Joe Betz at 8:00 p.m. 'll1e followiDJ nerrbers were present: Joe Betz,
Pat Boyle, Shirley Cllellis, Phyllis Pope, and Margaret'll1anpson.. Denis Stedman
and Ron Bez:g were absent.
MINUTES: A Il'Dtion was made by Shirley Cllellis and secomed by Phyllis Pope to
approve the May 4, 1976 Park and Recreation Corrrnission minutes. f.btion carried.

and Recreation Corrrnission mimtes of May 18, as follows: members present were:
Joe Betz, Shirley O1ellis, Phyllis Pope, Pat Boyle, an::l Denis Stedman. Margaret
'lhorrpson and Ron Berg were absent. f.btion carried.
PARK SI'IE: Mrs. Jean lovetang presented a petition with over 400 :nanes on it
that reads as follows: We, the urrlersignerl hereby request the Cllanhassen
City Council to consider acqui.stion for a parl<. or wild life area approxi.rrately 50
acres located in an area bound by Highway 101 to the east, wtus Lake to the west,
Purgatory Creek to the south and on the north extending in a line westward from
Du::k Lake Trail to lotus Lake, in the location of a proposed housing developnent
by Ecklund and SWedlurrl. We further rea:mmend that a State Environmental Impact
Statement be ordered and prepared prior to any action by any city carm:i.ssion in
O1anhassen in behalf of the aforerrentiored developnent.

After discussion, 'the Park am Recreation Conmission will rreet on June 12, at 9:30 a.Pl.
at 6850 O1anhassen Road to view the property described above.
ACl'ICN: O1eck into the availability of State (25%) an::l Federal (50%) Grant Programs
for the purchasing of parl<. lands.
Mrs. wvetang suggested that we send a notation to the city planner for a
noratoriun on this project so that we can gather further infornation. 'Ibis will
be discussed at the next Park and Recroo tion Ccmnission rreeting.
ACTION: Ask Jeny Schlenk to please notify the person who in::jUired about the
chemical toilet at West Jr. High School that there are no funds available to oover
this cost but the Parl<. and Recreation Ctmnission will consider the request in the
bwget for next year.
MUSCUlAR DYS'lIDPHY: Carvinal kits are available fran the Park and Recreation Conmission,
TENNISCCXJRl'S: Construction has started. '!he final price quote on the cost of
construction of the tennis courts is $15,627. 'Ibe school board approved the
project with their share (50%) of the cost not to exceed $7,500. Therefore, the
project will cost $627. (approximately) Il'Dre than Il'Dnies approved.
Possible Solutions:
1. Reduction of asphalt on surface - not reccmmerrled by City Engineers.

2. Win::l screen fran High School - not available.
3. Takie project back to School Board and Council - School Board not responsive.
4. Eliminate wind screen - not recamended - wculd like to have project conpleted
as' proposed..

stages of develoFfleIlt (maps, etc) for Lake Arm palX (active and passive areas).
