A RESOLUTION REGARDING SCHOOL DISTRICT 112 BOND/OPERATING LEVY
WHEREAS, Independent School District 112 is the third fastest growing school district in the
metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, current enrollment projections predict 1160 students beyond classroom capacity
by 2003; and
WHEREAS, the system of public schools is a cornerstone of quality in this community; and
WHEREAS, learning is one of our officially-adopted community values; and
WHEREAS, the Chanhassen City Council believes that quality education has a positive impact
on community property tax values; and
WHEREAS, District 112 has proposed a bond referendum in the amount of $42.57 million to
build and improve schools, purchase land, and upgrade technology infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, District 112 is also proposing an operating levy of $112.43 more per student per
year for 10 years in order to help pay for the operation of the new schools.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chanhassen,
Minnesota urges residents to educate themselves about the referendum and to vote on November 2,
1999.
