REGULAR MEETING
SUMMARY MINUTES
NOVEMBER 28, 2005
Mayor Furlong called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.. The meeting was opened with the
Pledge to the Flag.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT:
Mayor Furlong, Councilwoman Tjornhom, Councilman
Lundquist and Councilman Peterson
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT:
Councilman Labatt
STAFF PRESENT:
Todd Gerhardt, Justin Miller, Roger Knutson, Kate Aanenson, Jill Sinclair
and Paul Oehme
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Mayor Furlong invited all residents to attend the Tree

Lighting Ceremony which will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 5:00 p.m. at City Center
Park.
PRESENTATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS.
Mayor Furlong
and Ron Olsen presented the Environmental Excellence Awards to Rich Westerberg for his
environmentally friendly dry cleaning business and Mark Taintor for his commuting by bike.
CONSENT AGENDA: Councilman Lundquist moved, Councilwoman Tjornhom seconded
to approve the following consent agenda items pursuant to the City Manager’s
recommendations:
a. Approval of Minutes:
-City Council Work Session Minutes dated November 14, 2005
-City Council Summary and Verbatim Minutes dated November 14, 2005
b. Environmental Commission: Approval of Amendment to the Bylaws, Changing the
Meeting Date and Time.
c. Minnewashta Creek Hill, 6560 Minnewashta Parkway:
1) Final Plat Approval.
2) Approval of Development Contract and Plans & Specifications.
Resolution#2005-96:
d. Resolution Approving the Issuance of a Revenue Note by the
Economic Development Authority of the City of Chanhassen.

Resolution#2005-97:
f. Knob Hill 2 Addition, Project No. 02-06, Accept Streets and
Storm Sewer.
g. Accept Donation to the Senior Center from Community Bank Chanhassen.

All voted in favor, except Mayor Furlong abstained from item 1(f), and the motion carried.
VISITOR PRESENTATIONS:
Greg Krauska representing the Chanhassen Rotary Club

presented information on their upcoming events on Saturday, December 3 to raise money to
provide shelter boxes for survivors of the earthquake in Pakistan, money for the CAP Agency

energy assistance program and Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, December 4.
LAW ENFORCEMENT/FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE.
Sgt. Jim Olson presented the
numbers for the sheriff’s office area report, area citation list, community service officer report
and crime alerts issued by Crime Prevention Specialist Beth Hoiseth for the month of October.
Mayor Furlong asked for an update on enforcement regarding meth labs and associated criminal
activity related to recent legislation and clarification of the numbers regarding traffic
enforcement. Sergeant Olson talked about winter parking regulations, and ice safety on area
lakes and ponds. Chief Gregg Geske presented the monthly report for the Chanhassen Fire
Department for the month of October. He recognized 3 fire fighters who received the stork pin
for assisting in the delivery of a child. He also re-emphasized the danger of thin ice.

ADMINISTRATIVE PRESENTATIONS:
Todd Gerhardt informed the council that the
Mayor and himself will be attending the School District 112 Facility Planning meeting on

Tuesday, November 29 to discuss their secondary school plans.
CORRESPONDENCE DISCUSSION.
None.
Councilman Lundquist moved, Councilwoman Tjornhom seconded to adjourn the meeting.
All voted in favor and the motion carried. The City Council meeting was adjourned at 7:25
p.m..
