94-07 CITY OF CHANHASSEN CARVER AND HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA DATE: January 10, 1994 MOTION BY: Mason RESOLUTION NO: SECONDED BY: 94-07 Dockendoff REVISION OF MUNICIPAL STATE AID (MSA) ROADS AND HIGHWAY SPEED ZONES IN CHANHASSEN WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen has evaluated the posted speed limits on certain MSA roads and trunk highways within its corporate limits; and WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen has concluded that because of 1) 2) 3) 4) Continuing growth in residential, commercial, and industrial development, Continuing increases in traffic volumes, Concerns expressed by the general public and law enforcement officials about excessive speed limits and about travel speeds, and Opinions offered by engineering staff regarding highway safety and capacity characteristics, posted speed limits need to be revised on certain MSA roads and trunk highways. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Chanhassen proposes the following posted speed limit revisions on the listed segments of MSA roads and trunk highways: MSA Road/Trunk Highway Segment Posted Proposed Speed Speed Limit Limit (mph) (mph) Kerber Boulevard (MSA 101) Santa Vera Drive to West 78th Street 40 30 Kerber Boulevard (MSA 101) C.R. 17 (Powers Blvd.) to Santa Vera Drive 40 35 Trunk Highway 101 TH 5 to 0.5 mile north (Kristie Lane) 45 30 Trunk Highway 101 0.5 mile north of TH 5 to corporate limits 45 40 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Commissioner of Transportation study the proposed revised speed limits on these MSA roads and trunk highway segments as illustrated by Drawing One (Posted Speed Limits - January, 1994) and Drawing Two (Proposed Speed Limits - January, 1994), both made a part hereof, and establish the appropriate speeds.
