FAX (612) 937-57:39 April 14, 1997 Chanhassen American Legion 7995 Great Plains Boulevard Chanhassen, MN 55317 Attn: Commander Gene Borg Dear Gene: The Chanhassen Fire Department is continually striving to be a leader both in the community and in the county with our hazardous materials response unit. Whereas industry and transportation are on the increase both in and through the community, so does the risk of an accident. This is where the Chanhassen Legion comes in. Currently we are looking for financial assistance to purchase the following equipment. Th~ first is a Drager CMS (chip measurement system). This is a state of the art measuring tool used for monitoring leaks of such chemicals as ammonia, chlorine, hydrogen cyanide, and other toxic gases. The Chanhassen Fire Department HazMat Group has conducted extensive research and has come to the conclusion that this is the best piece of monitoring equipment for our current and future needs. The second type of equipment is portable radio headsets. These headsets would be used by our pump operators when operating the equipment in a high noise environment. Oftentimes, crucial voice communication must be maintained between the firefighters doing interior firefighting operations and the pump engineers. These headphones would help insure that radio communication will be heard and understood clearly. I broke the cost down for you to review. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me at 937-1900 ext. 132. The Chanhassen Fire Department would like to graciously thank you for your continued support. Any time we can be of assistance to you. please don't hesitate to call.
