KEY FINANCIAL STRATEGY: TH 101 CORRIDOR SCOPING STUDY,
PW067F4.
Scott McBride reviewed background information on work that's been done to date,
including an open house held on July 17, 2006 where the public identified existing issues
in the corridor, discussed potential solutions and were able to become familiar with the
study schedule and process. He also reviewed the historical and natural environmental
resource concerns that need to be addressed. Mike Kotila discussed traffic safety and
arterial performance. He showed a graphic of crash locations along the corridor, which
are 3 times the average for this type of roadway. Aerial photographs were shown of
existing roadway conditions and a map showing different alignment options, reviewing
the pros and cons of each alignment. He reviewed the public agency involvement for a
coordinated effort from local, state and federal levels and showed the proposed schedule
for completion of the study by December, 2006. Councilman Lundquist asked for
clarification on when and where funding would be available. Paul Oehme explained that
funding is at least 5 plus years out but the City is always looking for opportunities when
they arise. Todd Gerhardt asked for clarification of what the current study will entail.
Mayor Furlong adjourned the work session at 7:05 p.m..
