PRESENT A TION OF MAPLE LEAF AWARD
DECEMBER 11, 2006
It is a pleasure to honor Councilman Brian Lundquist for his service to the city these past
four years. Brian, you were dedicated and committed to serving both our Chanhassen residents
and businesses. You provided strong leadership on strategic initiatives, such as the Key
Financial Strategies and legislative priorities. You were committed to lowering taxes and did
this by analyzing how we spent our money and finding opportunities to balance the need for new
infrastructure and city services. Using your business experiences and applying a business
approach, you were able to strengthen our fiscal policies and keep our budgets in line with new
growth these past four years. The net result is that the city's tax rate was reduced by 36% from
2003 to 2007.
Also during your term, you provided leadership to many projects and policies that have
improved our city and the high quality of life that we enjoy. Some of these projects and policies
include:
. Construction of the new Chanhassen Library;
. Numerous redevelopment projects in the downtown area, and new commercial and
residential developments throughout the city;
. Construction of the city's first water treatment plant;
. City Center Park and miles of new and reconstructed roads and trails, and expanded and
refurbished parks throughout the city; and
. Developing sound fiscal policies and budgets in difficult financial times.
You should be very proud of your service to the Chanhassen and all that you have accomplished.
We thank you, Brian, for your outstanding leadership, service, and dedication to the City of
Chanhassen. Weare all going to miss your talents and skills, and the fun times we had together.
