Chair Anderson called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

APPROVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AGENDA DATED JANUARY 14, 2025
Commissioner Freeman moved, and Commissioner Benedict seconded to approve the Agenda of the
Economic Development Commission meeting dated January 14, 2024, as presented. All voted in favor
and the motion was carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0.

Commissioner Bame moved, and Commissioner Lee seconded to approve the Minutes of the Economic
Development Commission meeting dated December 11, 2024, as presented. All voted in favor and the
motion was carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0.

Review and Adopt Economic Development Commission Bylaws
Commissioner Lee moved, and Commissioner Bame seconded to approve the recommended
changes to the Economic Development Commission Bylaws for the year 2025. All voted in favor
and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Lee moved, and Commissioner Freeman seconded to adjourn the meeting. All voted in
favor and the motion was carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0. The Economic Development
Commission meeting was adjourned at 6:26 p.m.

SUMMARY
Patrick Gavin, Communications Manager, will give an overview of the Communications Department,
sharing details of upcoming collaborations, and recommendation items that the Economic Development
Commission could implement in 2025.
BACKGROUND
Patrick Gavin joined the City of Chanhassen as its communications manager in August 2024.
Gavin is an accomplished marketing director, brand manager, and journalist with over two decades of
experience in storytelling, communication, and media production. As marketing director for Eldermark
Software and Notify (Minnetonka, MN), Gavin led all marketing efforts, including campaigns, events,
and content creation for these multimillion-dollar companies.
Before moving to Minnesota in 2018, Gavin was a journalist and visual storyteller in Washington, D.C.
Gavin's production company -- PWG Media Group -- worked with such clients as PlantStrong, the
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Laird Hamilton and Gabrielle Reece, Floyd
Mayweather, the Guardian, Tribune Media, the Washington Business Journal, the Forward, Gurney's
Montauk, Tequila Don Julio, USA Today, the Distilled Spirits Council and the American Historical
Association.
He is the director of “Nerd Prom: Inside Washington’s Wildest Week,” a feature-length documentary
about the biggest annual event in Washington, D.C.: The White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The
movie was hailed by the late Larry King as “a very important and hysterical documentary” and
Newsweek magazine called it “a telling, smart look at this orgy of partying and social insecurity.” It

garnered press in such outlets as the New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, the Associated Press, the
Guardian, National Review, Variety, the Washington Post, the Huffington Post, Page Six, National
Public Radio, People magazine, and Vanity Fair.
Gavin covered Washington politics for over a decade, beginning with his work as a writer at the
Brookings Institution, then as a columnist at the Washington Examiner, then a reporter at
mediabistro.com’s FishbowlDC website and, most recently, at Politico, where he focused on the nexus
between Hollywood and Washington. He’s interviewed such notables as Eliot Spitzer, Donald
Rumsfeld, Larry King, Jack Abramoff, Donald Trump, Seth Meyers, Cory Booker, Jessica Alba, Lance
Armstrong, Angelina Jolie, Bill Maher, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Jimmy Kimmel, John Mayer, Cyndi
Lauper, Herbie Hancock, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Willie Nelson, Billy Corgan, Tim Gunn, Tom Brokaw,
Jessie Ventura and Wyclef Jean.
During his time in Washington, Gavin was a regular television contributor, including appearances on
MSNBC's "Morning Joe,” “Reliable Sources,” "The Andrea Mitchell Show," "Headline News,"
"Dateline," "TODAY," "The O'Reilly Factor," C-SPAN, CBS's "The Early Show," "Extra," "Inside
Edition," "Entertainment Tonight," "TMZ Live," "Jansing & Co.," "The Thomas Roberts Show," "Joy
Behar: Say Anything!", "Weekend with Alex Witt" and "Anderson Live." He was named by The
Atlantic as one of “The 30 Washington Insiders You Should Follow on Twitter,” by Business Insider as
one of its “Most Influential People in Media” and by The Wrap as one of the "25 Media Insiders to
Follow Right Now." He served as a Young Scholar at the Aspen Institute.
