Park Commission Report - December 2001
Staff Notes:
Staffing remains stable at the Rec Center. Three employees are poised to accept
other employment in their career fields as opportunities arise.
Facility Notes:
Gymnasium space was allocated to area youth sports associations for the winter
months. All associations who requested space did receive the hours they
requested except for Chan/Chaska Soccer Club; soccer is not in season.
The sign on the exterior north wall of the gymnasium is illuminated!! Still
waiting for completion of fan installation in the fitness room and aerobic studio.
The leg press machine, adduction machine, and one stair climber all received
repairs in November ($1800).
Kay Faust completed her art exhibition in October and we are currently
featuring an exhibit by six local art students and their instructor: Instructor
Penny Areneson, Sue Swain, Joanne Lawton, Donna Powers, Ricci Keeler,
Stephanie Wing and Sally Hebeisen. These artists will host an open house in the
Rec Center lobby on December 18 at 6:30pm.
Program Notes:
Preschool sports offerings over the winter include basketball, floor hockey, and
indoor soccer. All will fill to capacity.
Fitness offerings, Babysitting Clinics, and Dance classes continue to be popular.
The 5K in May training program begins in March for the third year.
