MEMORANDUM
TO:
Todd Hoffman, Park and Recreation Director
FROM:
Dale Gregory, Park Superintendent
DATE:
December 3,2001
SUBJECT: Park and Trail Maintenance Report
The fall weather has been good to us. The mild weather has allowed us to
complete many of the smaller jobs that we usually don't seem to have a chance to
complete before winter sets in.
We are in full swing with the new park shed. All equipment has been moved out
to the new shcd and wc are finishing up with the installation of the air lines, work
benches and storage shelves. The park employee's are very proud of their new
building.
Ball fields and soccer fields have all held up fairly well through this fall. All
athletic fields have been aerated, fertilized and some slit seeding was done in front
of several of the soccer goals.
Flooding of the skating rinks looks like it will have a late start this year. Currently
we have no frost in the ground and there are no cold temperatures in the forecast
for the near future. When the time comes that we can start flooding, it will take us
about seven days flooding 24 hours a day to have all the rinks ready for skating.
This next two months is traditionally when all educational classes and re-
certification of park employees will take place. Some of the classes that will be
attended will be:
· Minnesota Turf and Grounds for Pesticide Re-certification
· Shade Tree Short Course for Tree Inspection Re-certification
· Minnesota Toro School for Irrigation, Grounds Keeping and Maintenance
Repair
· Hazardous Tree Class for Tree Trimming
· Recognizing Trees that Present a Hazard in our Park.
The Park Maintenance Staffwould like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year!
