Be Apart Of Your
Neighborhood
West Hennepin Community
Services has teamed up with
the University of Minnesota
and Community
Involvement Programs (CIP)
to do a pilot project in which
we will study ways for
people with disabilities to
become more involved in
their neighborhood.
Because of our' location,
we've selected Hopkins as
the neighborhood we'II
investigate. Do you live in
Hopkins or the Hopkins
area7 Would you or
someone you know be
interested in becoming more
involved in the
neighborhood7 Perhaps
you'd like to join the
planners for the Raspberry
festival or get involved in
activities at City Hall.

WHCS' An,riga! Meeting
and Hol OaY Party
Are you feeling a crisp bite in the fall air?
Before we know it, snowflakes will begin to fall
and the holiday season will be upon us. With
the end of the year comes the season to
celebrate at the (you guessed it) West Hennepin
Community Services' annual meeting and
holiday party. Come oil arid catch the spirit!
On Wednesday, December 12, 2001 from 6:00 -
8:30 p.m., "Tara Tunes" will inspire us with
dance music as we eat great hors d'oeuvres (not
a full dinner) and boogie to the music.
Experience our annual program, awards, and a
special gift. Everyone is invited. The event
will take place at the Minnetonka Community.
Center/Dining Room at 14600 Minnetonka
Blvd. The cost is $5.00 per person.
(Scholarships are available. Contact Renae
Lutner at 952/988-4177.)
Watch the mail for your special Annual
Meeting/Holiday Party invitation and let all
your friends and family members know. Send
your RSVP registration and payment to
LoAnne at WHCS before Friday, December
7th.

Attendance:
Notes:
(6) Park and Recreation Commission Members, (11) Citizens,
(2) City of Chanhassen Staff Members, and (1) Villager
Representative.
· Concern that the new steps will allow "jumping" into the street. (It was
agreed to include a traffic control style fence an'angement at the top of the
stairs and at the north entry.)
· Concern that glass is present.
· Should be no smoking, no tobacco, and no glass.
· Concerned about the lack of police presence.
· Druo=. dealing has been observed at the park.
· City should partner with kids, parents, staff, schools, churches, Chamber
of Commerce, and police to help nurture a good environment.
· Appears that 10-15% of those in attendance cause problems.
· Often times, problems are caused by spectators.
· Consider creating a skate park association.
