REGULAR MEETING
SUMMARY MINUTES
NOVEMBER 22, 2016
Chairman Kelly called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Cole Kelly, Brent Carron, Luke Thunberg, Jim Boettcher, Rick
Echternacht, and Jennifer Hougham. Steve Scharfenberg arrived during discussion of the 2016
park and trail acquisition and development capital improvement projects.

Lauren Dale

Todd Hoffman, Park and Rec Director; and Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation
Superintendent;
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
The agenda was approved with the addition of discussion of the

December 13 Park and Recreation Commission agenda under Commission Member Committee
Reports.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Todd Hoffman announced that the first annual Turkey Trot is
being held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the Chanhassen High School.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Thunberg moved, Echternacht seconded to approve the verbatim
and summary Minutes of the Park and Recreation Commission meeting dated October 25, 2016
as presented.
STATUS OF 2016 PARK AND TRAIL ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS.
Todd Hoffman reviewed a power point presentation showing the 2016 park and trail capital
improvement projects.
ESTABLISH 2017 PICNIC RESERVATION FEES.
Jerry Ruegemer presented the staff
report on this item.
Boettcher moved, Echternacht seconded that the Park and Recreation Commission
recommend that the City Council establish 2017 group picnic reservation fees at the same
level as 2016 with the additional large group fee of $50 for residents and $100 for non-

residents and eliminate the $200 damage deposit for all group picnics. All voted in favor
and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 7 to 0.
RECREATION PROGRAM REPORTS:
2016 HALLOWEEN PARTY EVALUATION.
Jerry Ruegemer presented the report on the
2016 Halloween Party evaluation.
2016 TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY REPORT.
Jerry Ruegemer presented the report on

the Tree Lighting Ceremony which is scheduled for Saturday, December 3 at City Center Park.
DISCUSS DECEMBER 13, 2016 PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING.
Todd Hoffman noted there will be a work session for the park system’s master plan at this
meeting. Commission members decided to start the work session at 6:00 p.m. with a holiday
social event following the work session.
ADMINISTRATIVE PACKET.
Todd Hoffman noted that the Avienda project is moving
forward and thanked the commission for their input.
Carron moved, Scharfenberg seconded to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor and the
motion carried unanimously with a vote of 7 to 0. The Park and Recreation Commission
meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
