EXTRA SESSION
CHANHASSEN PLANNING COMMISSION
The Chanhassen Planning Commission held its meeting at Chanhassen
City Hall, 7610 Lardeo, Chanhassen, Minnesota on March 5, 1980.

Chairman Horn called the Meeting to Order at 7:35 P.M.
There was no quorum present at this meet~ng, therefore all Minutes
were only discussed and no recommendation.s were made.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The February 6, 1980 Minutes were discussed and will be presented
for approval at the next meeting.
The January 31, 1980 Lake Study Committee Minutes were discussed.
Additional items to be included in future meetings were the juris-
diction of the lakes, buoys and outlots.
DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PLAN DISCUSSION
Arjis Polkans explained the Memorandum of intent, development plans
and the draft report amendments to the original downtown redevelopment
plan. He illustrated the plan changes and scheduling.
There was discussion on the needed financial plan and the effects
4It and r~tings of performance bonds.
John Havlik, Mobile, suggested that in the new development
plan Laredo Drive be closed off to eliminate heavy traffic flows
through the residential area.. He informed that his house is
surrounded by three streets. Discussion among the Commission members
and the floor arose concerning the traffic flows and its effects
on the relating properties.
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN - LAND USE DISCUSSION
Mark Koegler reviewed the preliminary land use section of the
Comprehensive plan. ,He explained the the projected future needs
for mixed housing and illustrated densities and land use allocations
on sketch plans. There was discussion onPUD's and general densities.
The possibilities of changing the density allocations and zoning
ordinances to accomodate a lower number of people and mixed housing
was discussed.
Mr. Koegler explained the procedure of drafting and adopting the
comprehensive plan. He further informed of a field trip that will
be taken to some developments in different municipalities. A date
for this trip has not yet been set.

The status of the Planning Commission applicants was discussed.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
11:20 P.M.
