Park and Recreation Conmlission

The regular me.eting of the Park and Recreation commission was called
to order by Ch~ir.man Chuck Hirt at 8:00 p.m. The following members
were present: Pat Boyle, Joe Betz, Dwight Leatham, Chuck Hirt, and
Denis Stedman. Margaret Thompson and Roy Roeser were absent..
Dale Gregory was also present.
MINUTES: A motion was made by Dwight Leatham and seconded by Pat
Boyle t.o amend the minutes of June 17, 1975 under AD HOC COMMt'l'TEE,
it should read as "Dick Dutcher reported that the Ad Hoc Committee
voted against. the proposed Park on Lake Minnewashta and the vote
count was 4 to 3." l-1otion carried.
A motion was made by Pat Boyle and seconded by Denis St.edman t.o
accept the minutes as amended. Motion carried.
LAKE ANN ~I~ PATH: Dale Gregory informed the council that two
loads of crushed stone would be used to try to correct and improve
the surface conditions of the bike path to the p&rk. This was
the only action available under current budget limitations.
It was noted that the fact that some action is being taken to correct
path conditions should appear in nK~re.n's Corner."
Dale Gregory was al~o infonned the Commission that nei~her he nor
HenryWrase had received a copy of the commission minutes as planned.
It was noted th.at Henry Wraseshould obtain cost estimates for
paving t.he bike path to Lake Ann anq submit them to the Commission
for consideration in the coming budgetft
PARK AND RECRE1).TIONBUDGET: Chairman Chuck Birt requested that. all
comm!ssion members ~ink aDout and provide topics to be included in
the Park and Recreation commi~~ionBudget for 1976. ..
WESTE~ HILLS PARK~ The question was raised as to the status of
the park. property, or money I to b(ir provided by Hansen and Klinqelhutz
for Western Hills.. Further investi~ation of the topic i.s required.
T2NNIS. COURT~~ .Oenis Stedman.. moved .and Dtiight Leat.ham seconded t.hat
Pat" Boyle should continue to pursue all aspects of the construction
of tennis courts 01& Chanhassen Ele~ne~tary SchOOl property.
BUDGET R~PORT: It was noted t.hat the Commission has not. yet received
a monthly copy of the status of the Park and Recreation BUdget as
promised by Kay Klinqelhutz at a previous maeting~ A six month
budget status report is herein requested for the 7-15-75 Commission
meeting"

PARK ORDINANCE: Pat Boyle raised t.he question as to the status
of €he par)t Ordinance. The park season is a~st half over and it
is becoming diffioult t.o cont.ro.l some sit.uations without an approved .....,
and enforcable ordinance.
The fast that the proposed ordinance was not covered at the last
City councllmeet:iii9 makes i1:,imperative that the topic be again
. included on t.he agenda for the nex.t. meeting. .
