The weather was cold and affected sales. I would invite them back to next year's festival if they are interested. Bonfire The temperature was extremely cold making the bonfire even too cold to stand by at this year's event. I would however recommend keeping this feature for next year's event. S'more CookoutlBait Sale The ChanhassenBoy Scout Troop #330 sold s'more kits and bait again at this year's festival. They were extremely successful in the selling of bait but did not sell any s'more kits. I would recommend inviting them back to next year's festival. Skatine Rink With the temperatures being low we were able to construct a usable skating rink at this year's event. The rink was used moderately but it allowed for an alternate activity within in view of the fishing contest area. I recommend having this feature at next year's event, weather permitting. Slidine Hill The sliding hill was not utilized much this year due to extremely cold temperatures. It is a great activity to have in addition to the fishing contest, weather permitting. I would recommend that the sliding hill be incorporated into next year's February Festival. Medallion Hunt The Friends of the Library developed the clues for this year's medallion hunt. The clues were given out the week leading up to Feb Fest. I would recommend that we continue the Medallion Hunt in the same capacity next year as it gets the community more involved. A statement should also be made warning the public not to destroy areas of the city when looking for the medallion. The City 01 Chanhassen . A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks, A great place to live, work, and play, Ice Fishinl! Contest A total of 821 tickets were sold for the contest-316 tickets were sold through advance sales and 505 were sold the day of the event. Ticket sales were down from 2006 probably due to the cold weather. The contest went smoothly and there were roughly 26 fish caught! General Comments/Sul!l!estions ~ We labeled the door prizes on the master list with a number that corresponds with the prize (#1, #2, etc.). This made it easier for prize board volunteers to disperse prizes. ~ Continue announcing door prize winners by both their name and by their ticket number. A lot of people don't pay attention to their ticket number. This helps alleviate all the congestion in front of the prize board after the contest. ~ Continue putting a black mark on the back of each winning door-prize ticket. This makes it a lot easier to find any unclaimed winners. ~ Fewer porta-potties were ordered for this year's event and the same amount should be ordered for next year's event. ~ Due to extreme cold temperatures, it was decided to stream line event set- ups. One result was canceling the rental of extra garbage bins from Waste Management and using our own which was a successful decision. ~ The fire department lent a hand by allowing us to use their heated portable tents. A decision will be made deciding what projected temperatures will request this outcome again. ~ Personal ice houses were allowed this year outside of the designated contest area due to cold temperatures. A buffer zone will be added to next year's contest putting more distance between the ice houses and the drilled fishing holes. ~ The contest rules will be modified for next year to compensate for the new allowances placed in this years contest. ~ Contest tickets will be looked at and possibly have a string attached to them for easy viewing during the contest. A place for zip codes should be added to the tickets. 2007 FEBRUARY FESTIVAL Expense Report REVENUE Ticket Sales AMOUNT $4,105.00 EXPENSES Southwest Publishing Skyway Event Services Sheraton Bloomington Hotel Imperial Porta-Palace Cabin Fever Sporting Goods Brengman Printing One-of-a-Kind Design Minnesota Gambling Control Board Supplies for program AMOUNT $1,374.80 $ 816.86 $ 700.00 $ 400.00 $1,250.31 $ 170.40 $ 170.00 $ 50.00 $ 57.44 Total Expenses $ 4,989.81 TOT AL EXPENSES: TOT AL REVENUE: BALANCE: $-4,989.81 $ 4.105.00 $ -884.81
