APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

was present at the meeting.
DRAFT FORM FOR HAULER RECYCLING/FACILITY REPORTS:
Jill informed the
commission that the ordinance revision was approved by the city Council on April 26. The
ordinance requires that haulers submit quarterly reports to the city. The commission discussed
possible ways and means of distributing and receiving the forms. It was suggested that they be
in spreadsheet format, sent and received by email, have room for 3 months of data, and include
percent of broken glass. The question regarding how weights are calculated only needs to be
asked annually. The commission would like to invite Mark Rust to a meeting to talk about what
the state thinks about single-sort recycling, landfill cover and what changes might be made to the
process. Marcus volunteered to invite Mark.
ARBOR DAY SUMMARY:
Jill reported that the day went very well. The storytelling time and
birdhouse building were popular and there were many groups at the luncheon. The location was
perfect in City Center Park. It seems like a good program to follow next year.
STRATEGIC PLAN:
The commission discussed adding ‘sustainability’ to plan. The
commission edited the plan to include sustainability to the vision section and edited the mission
statement. Jo, Dotti and Deborah will bring the revised plan to the June meeting for approval.
JULY 4 PARADE:
The commission talked about their plans for the parade. First on the list
was the need for more candy this year. The Green Guardian and the Doughboy will be a part of
the float. The Doughboy may be dressed in red, white and blue. Ron has two trailers that
commission could use. Dotti will find out how much weight the Tracker can pull. Marcus will
bring hardware aprons to the parade. The commission wants bunting on the float. Jill will find
out if the Guardian can be escorted from the fire station to the float again. The entry form will
be filled out at the June meeting. The commission brainstormed on possible slogans for the
float:
?
Red, White, Blue and Green!
?
Recycling is your patriotic duty!
?
Good Citizens Recycle!
?
Kids for a Clean Earth!
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
No applicable discussion was held.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
