and the tote bags will be for sale. Kim offered to cover that station. Other ideas were have
applications for city commissions available, samples of non-P fertilizer, perhaps Ron could put
together something on alternative energy resources for home use, put up “Don’t be a litter bug
signs around the building, get ‘Adopt-A-Road’ info from the county. Marcus will see if some
compost can be delivered by NRG and sold at the event. Deborah wondered if the MNZoo will
be bringing an eagle.
Arbor Day posters were only received from ST. Hubert’s School. The commission chose the
stndrd
following poster contest winners: 1 – Laura Wondra, 2 – Molly Lass, 3 – Meredith
Workman. There will be presentation at the April 28 City Council meeting.
Jill announced that McDonald’s is giving away free seedlings on the state Arbor Day, April 25.
The Uof M Tree Care Advisors have asked for volunteers to be at McDonald’s to help distribute
the trees. Marcus volunteered from noon – 1 pm, Dotti volunteered from 10 am – noon, and
Deborah said she would check her schedule.

on absences and change in 3.1 from ‘shall’ to ‘may’.
ELECTION OF CHAIR & VICE-CHAIR

absent, as chair. Deborah nominated Marcus as chair and Ron as vice-chair. All voted to elect
Marcus as chair, Ron as vice-chair.
BLUE SKY GUIDES
: The commission will start delivering the guides again in May. Jill will
prepare the distribution lists and packets for the May meeting.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Dotti brought up the fact that the local grocery stores are no longer accepting plastic bags.
?
Someone mentioned that dry cleaners take back their plastic bags, perhaps they would
accept grocery bags as well or at least have a vendor that could be called. Perhaps
Melissa should be asked to look into it. The commission would like a speaker on the
subject at the May meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
