CHANHASSEN ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
April 12, 2000
Meeting called to order by Dotti Shay at 7:10 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Dotti Shay, Clay Smith, Jo Mueller
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Jack Atkins, Susan McAllister
STAFF PRESENT:
Jill Sinclair, Environmental Resources Specialist
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Minutes were approved.
GUEST PRESENTATION:
Betsy from ISD 112 visited to explain the visioning process for the
district and survey the Commission. The district is in the process is doing long range planning
including a 2020 mission vision, goals and objectives. In January, community and staff
representatives gathered to brainstorm about what’s important to the district. During the survey
it became apparent that the environmental policy for the district is in need of revision. The
Environmental Commission could help revise it.
ARBOR DAY:
Commissioners suggested having pictures of the Commission and goals. The
city should also advertise for new members.
ARBOR DAY POSTERS:
Should check with Kinko’s, Target, Chamber, Byerly’s or Festival
about sponsoring the poster printing.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD:
A program is run by the County Solid Waste Advisory
Committee (SWAC) and the Chaska Chamber of Commerce (?) that could be of interest to the
commission. Is there a city council contact for the Chanhassen Chamber?
NEW MEMBER INTERVIEW:
Resident Marcus Zbinden attended the meeting to be
interviewed by the Commission. He applied for appointment beginning April 12. It was a
unanimous vote to recommend him to City Council.
PRAIRIE/WETLAND SEEDING PROJECT:
New site suggestions included Lake Susan and
Bluff Creek.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
