This year the skating rink season started January 15,2007, and closed February
20, 2007 with a total of only 37 days open (see attached report).
Oxygen levels were monitored weekly thru the winter on Lake Susan. The levels
did not drop much until we had the two snowstorms in March. The added snow
dropped the oxygen levels to a point where we were close to installiIlg the
aeration system. With waIJIler weather occurring and after talking to the DNR,
they assured us the fish would be fine.
During the two snowstorms in March a lot of time was spent trying to keep the
trails open. Some trails along major highways were impossible to get open until
after the storms were over and we could send out the tractors with blowers.
We have also worked with Jill Sinclair, Environmental Resource Specialist, with
some buck thorn removal east of 41 behind the Pulte Addition. Jill hired the
cutting and spraying of the buck thorns and the park maintenance did the chipping
and hauling.
All 43 wood duck houses have been cleaned, repaired and replaced where
necessary. This year we had a 2% increase over last year (see attached report).
