Weare taking registrations for the spring programming season. It feels good to
be planning more outdoor activities! The Recreation Center will be the host site
for the annual Easter Egg Candy Hunt on Saturday, April 7. A sure sign of
spring! The winter basketball league concluded March 12. Spring league is
scheduled to begin March 19. Most other spring programs begin in early April.
The Dance program has begun preparation for the annual dance recital in May.
Facilitv Notes
The Recreation Center experienced a rare weather-related closure due to the
snow storm March 1 and 2. During such events, the Recreation Center follows
the decisions made by the Chaska School District. When the School District

the Recreation Center. Room rentals have been fairly steady and demand for
rental space remains steady through March and into April.
2007 Strate2ic Plan
On January 23, the Park and Recreation Commission met for a tour at the
Recreation Center. Later that evening, a meeting was held to discuss Recreation
Center operations. Many programming ideas and suggestions for better utilizing
the Recreation Center were discussed at that time. An outcome of these
meetings has been the development of a statement of priorities for programming
initiatives at the Recreation Center in 2007. A full report on these priorities will
be presented to the City Council on March 26. The following is a summary of
these priorities:
1. Bring Jazzercise (a group dance-fitness program) to the Recreation
Center. Jazzercise classes began March 1 st at the Recreation Center.
2. Bring additional sports and arts programming for youth grades 4 - 12
to the Recreation Center.
3. Develop themed party packages.
4. Revitalize the personal training program.
5. Initiate a corporate sales program.
6. Actively search for new programming ideas.
