QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Substitutions to be approved by Landscape Architect.
B. All materials shall comply with the latest edition of the American
Standard for Nursery Stock, American Association of Nurserymen.
C. Provide balled and petted plants which are field -grown nursery
plants, dug with a ball of earth still intact in which they are
growing, and in lieu of burlapping, are placed in a container to
retain the ball unbrokal Container grown plants most have been
grown in container for a minimum of six (6) months.
D. Guarantee: Submit written guarantee of replacement of any plant
material failing to survive and thrive for a patio[ of one year
after final date of acceptance. Two years for shade trees over 5
inches in diameter at trunk and evergreens over 15 fisat in height.
F. Layout areasof planting and location of each major plant for
review by Architect prior to start of planting.
G. Coordinate installation of plant materials with grading and
irrigation contractors.
H. Contractor to verify location of all underground utilities.
J. Clean-up all debris resulting from planting operation.
MATERIALS
A. Soil used in planting shall be topsoil thoroughly m. xed with one
part peat and one part manure to five parts soil.
B. Provide fertilizer, humus and other soil amenglnents of a type
which are known to improve the pH condition of the soil for the
particular plant material to be planted. Mix peat humus (FS
Q -P-166) with toploil in the ratio of. 1:3 for use in planting.
C. Fertilize soil for planting trees and shrubs with a 10 percent
phosphorus, 4 percent nitrogen and 4 percent potash commercial
fertilizer, applied and mixed at the rate of not less than 0.25
pounds per cubic feet of soil and humus.
D. Balled and burlapped trees maybe machine moved it approved by
landscape architect. Machine Moved Plant (MM): t, inch through
10 inch diameter trees may be planted with a 96 inchrdiameter
tree spade. Scarify sides of planting pit before transplanting tree.

PLANTING

shall be made only after approval. No planting, except ground
cover and vines, shall be placed closer than two feet b pavements

LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE
A. Maintain landscape work for a period of 30 days immediately
following complete installation of each majpr category of work.
Include watering, weeding, cultivating, restoration of grade, mowing
and '1trimming grass, pruning trees and shrubs, protection from
insects and diseases, fertilizing and similar operations as needed to
ensure normal growth and goad health for live plant materiel.
