The month included a variety activities and events, some of which are highlighted below: ~ Breakfast with the Mayor ~ History of Chanhassen presentation, lunch, and tour of the old St Hubert's Church (the presentation by Ron Roeser is being edited and will be shown on the local cable channel) ~ Container Gardening Class ~ Open House Reception featuring woodcarving demonstrations, concert by the CHAN-o-Iaries, tour and explanation of activities, and lunch provided from the congregate dinning program. ~ Minnesota Twins Game ~ Card Tournaments ~ Anniversary Dinner featuring a slide presentation that included pictures of activities from the past 15 years. A commemorative photo calendar was printed and provided to the attendees. The Chanhassen Lion Club and the City of Chanhassen, especially the city support staff, provided financial and technical support. Numerous comments were received dlring the month, with the majority stating, "What a great and inviting center we have." This was heard and echoed throughout the entire month not only by our regular participants, but also by the many new ones who attended events. None of this would have been possible without the excellent support of the City staff. What a great team we have and how appreciative all the seniors are for the City's commitment to the level of programming and space made available to them. Once again, the Chanhassen Lions Club hosted the annual Lake Ann picnic. The weather, food and games were perfect and all 70 people had an enjoyable time. Chaska unofficially opened the "Lodge" on June 1st. The Lodge serves AOA (Active Older Adults) with a variety of activities and programs. I will monitor how their new center may affect our activities and programs. The Senior Center continues with its regular programming and activities, with participation being good. I am always keeping an eye out for additional programs and events to lure in the Baby Boomers. I will be working with the Friends of the Library on an August and November event. The City of Chanhassen . A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.
