Danny Makespeace has recently accepted a summer internship in Montana.
Upon completion of this internship, Danny will have completed the
requirements for his degree. Danny has been with us for nearly 8 years, but we
do not anticipate having him back with us in the fall. We will miss Danny's
experience and willingness to take on extra hours as needed. Current Recreation
Center staff have assumed Danny's hours. All shifts are being covered. We
intend to maintain the current staff schedule through the summer season, but
anticipate the need to hire additional staff when we return to our regular
schedule after Labor Day

The summer programming season has begun. During the week of June 11 - 15,
the Recreation Center will host the first summer sensations program, babysitting
classes, tie dye classes, tennis classes, dance camps, and a multi-sport camp.
This is in addition to ongoing programs in Pilates, yoga, tae kwon do, t-ball,
jazzercise and fitness classes. Later this summer the Recreation Center will host
a self-defense class for kids, the Penny Carnival, chess club and camps, and
The City of Chanhassen · A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.

sports camps featuring soccer, golf, flag football, volleyball, baseball,
basketball, lacrosse and cheerleading.
Facilitv Notes
The Recreation Center is operating on the summer schedule as detailed above.
The demand for room rentals declines somewhat during the summer months.
Thus far in June we have hosted several end-of-school-year-type meetings or
celebrations and a variety of other meetings. With the active summer
programming season that has been scheduled, we should be able to keep the
meeting rooms fairly busy. The Recreation Center will be closed August 19-
September 4 for annual floor re-surfacing and other maintenance.
2007 Stratee:ic Plan. June Update
1. Jazzercise: The first Jazzercise class was held at the Recreation Center on
March 1. Rental receipts from J azzercise for March - May totaled
$1561.55
2. Additional Sports and Arts Programming: The Recreation Center lost
a potential client when Fungos announced they would be moving their
operations into the space formerly occupied by the Chanhassen Fitness
Center. I recently booked 36 hours of gym rental to Minnesota
Development Basketball (MDB) for basketball instructional programming.
I will continue to explore opportunities for growth in this area.
3. Develop Themed Party Packages: I plan to introduce at least 4 types of
party packages in the fall edition of the Chanhassen Connection that will
be released August 7.
4. Revitalize the Personal Training Program: This continues to be a
challenging area for us at the Recreation Center. Summer provides even
more challenges for personal training. I hope to be able to report some
progress in this area by fall and into 2008.
5. Initiate a Corporate Sales Program: I plan to have such a program,
developed by fall of this year.
6. Actively Search for New Programming Ideas: I have begun working
with a local resident in developing martial arts programming at the
Recreation Center. We hope to be hosting Kung Fu and Tai Chi classes at
the Recreation Center this fall.
