APPROVAL OF AGENDA Commissioner Camarata made the motion to approve the agenda.
Commissioner Block seconded. All members voted in favor and the motion carried. Agenda was
approved.
COMMISSION ON AGING MINUTES September 15, 2023. Commissioner Camarata made the
motion to approve the minutes. Commissioner Mason seconded. All members voted in favor and the
motion carried. Minutes were approved
Visitor Presentations
Laurie Hokkanen, City Manager, gave an update on the Civic Campus project.
Patrick Jones, Chanhassen Library Branch Manager, shared the library winter brochure, Chan-o-lairs
concert flier, and Alzheimer’s events this month. There is a table after the event on November 30 that
Beth and Gwen will sit at and answer questions. The table will be staffed from 3:45-4:30.
Dawn Plumer Carver County Health and Human Services, reported that Carver County was able to offer
flu vaccines and Covid boosters to senior buildings around the County. Move Mindful sessions will
happen in January and March. More information will be coming from Dawn about having the Senior
Center host sessions.
Lee Ann Eiden, Senior Community Services, facilitates a caregiver support group on the first Thursday
of the month from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. They also provide free tech support to the seniors on the second and
fourth Tuesday of the month from 1 to 4 p.m.
DISCUSSION ITEMS:
Update on Collaboration Discussions with Chanhassen Schools: Commissioner Ruth Slivken discussed a
partnership with the high school to have them meet their volunteer hours and work with seniors. Tracy
Meier from the high school met with Ruth and several student representatives from the Key Club,
Student Council, National Honor Society, Students Today, and other clubs. They brainstormed ideas to
do some bridging between the High School and local seniors.
Humanity Alliance Collaboration: Had an August event making power oatmeal. September event made
power bites at a local senior housing facility.
Commission on Aging 2024 Goals/Strategies: The Commissioners discussed the goals from last year and
decided which items were still important to address.
Senior Center Holiday Party: Thursday, December 14 at Recreation Center. A meal is served from
11:30-12:30 and a presentation from 12:30-1 p.m.

December COA meeting: December 15 doesn’t work for several people. The official Commission on
Aging meeting will be canceled for December.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Lunde called for meeting adjournment. Commissioner Mason seconded the motion. All
voted in favor and the motion carried.
