GENERAL BUSINESS: Senior Center – Rebranding Discussion – Idea Gathering Guest: Patrick Gavin, Chanhassen Communications Manager. The Commission on Aging thoroughly discussed every option available for the rebranding of the Senior Center. They noted that at its core the Senior Center is a community gathering space that encourages fun, learning, and connection for the 55+ community within the area. This is heavily thought about when choosing a name and the new name must have longevity regardless of ever-changing verbiage about what to call seniors and aging services. The Commission reviewed many name options and narrowed the list to four for consideration. These four suggestions will be part of ongoing discussions with city staff and Commissioners. The Commissioners recommended that City staff take these names and poll the patrons of the Senior Center for input as well as encourage community members to share any other branding/naming ideas. Patrick recommended the Commissioners take time to ponder the ideas and discuss with those around them for input to bring back to the Commission for further discussion. The Commission will continue to evaluate ideas further and make recommendations to City Council, along with the Senior Center Director. The four names with the most interest were: 1) Senior Center / Center for Seniors 2) The Porch 3) The S.A.G.E Center (Seniors Activity Growth and Engagement Center) 4) The Garden 3 VISITOR PRESENTATIONS: Carver County Health and Human Services. The second interviews for the Program Specialist will happen next week and they are very excited about the candidates.
