Park & Trail Report
Another busy summer has come to an end and most of our seasonal employees
have left to go back to high school or college. Five senior seasonal workers are
still on staff keeping the parks mowed and assisting with other assorted duties.
On August 11, 2007, a severe thunder storm passed through Chanhassen creating
a lot of tree damage in our parks, downtown area and especially along our trails.
Longacres trail was hit the hardest where most of the trail in the woods became
impassable. The park crew worked for two and one half weeks clearing away the
damage.
The archery range has been completely rebuilt with new style targets and new
stands with roofs to hold the targets.
There have been some issues with fires being started in the parks. Two satellites
were burned at Lake Susan., one in Powers Hill Park and an attempt was made to
burn a baby changing station. in the warming house bathroom at Bluff Creek.
Some problems have occurred on trails. near swampy areas with animals digging
tunnels under the trails causing that area to settle. The areas have been repaired
with some overlaying on the trails.
This fall soccer field #1 at Bandimere Park will be out of service to fill holes and
reseed.
The City of Chanhassen . A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.
