Holly has thorough knowledge of the policies and practices of our department as well as the software we use to process 'program registration and facility reservations. She has been a welcome addition and has already become involved with special projects and events.. Pro2rams The fall programming season has begun. Classes have already begun for two of our largest programs, Preschool sports (fall soccer) and Dance for Fun. There are about 150 kids enrolled in Preschool soccer and about 225 enrolled in the Dance program. In both cases, enrollments have met or exceeded our expectations. We are currently preparing for two of the biggest special events of the fall season-the Barnyard Boogey and the Halloween' Party. This is in addition to ongoing programs in Pilates, yoga, taekwon do, jazzercise and fitness classes. Later this fall, the Recreation Center will host a self-defense class for kids, chess club, babysitting training, and a variety of arts and crafts classes The City of Chanhassen · A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play. Mr. Todd Hoffman September 14, 2007 Page 2 Facilitv Notes The Recreation Center is operating on the fall seasonal schedule as detailed above. The Recreation Center was closed August 19 - September 4 for annual floor re-surfacing and other maintenance. The facility is looking good and we eagerly anticipate the 2007-08 season. The Recreation Center is a polling place for school board elections November 6. Meeting room reservations are coming in for the fall season. I am aware of several evenings this fall when all of our meeting rooms have already been reserved. 2007 Strateeic Plan September update: 1. Jazzercise: The first Jazzercise class w'as held at the Recreation Center on March 1. Rental receipts from Jazzercise for March - August have equaled $3,277.15 2. Additional Sports and Arts Programming: The Recreation Center continues to explore opportunities for growth in this area. This fall we have added a self-defense program for children ages 3-5. Future growth in this area will likely come in partnership with outside organizations or individuals with programming to offer but in need of facilities. 3: Develop Party Packages: Party packages at the Recreation Center were introduced in the fall edition of the Chanhassen Connection. Package pricing provides for 1 free hour of party room rental with 1 hour of gym rental at our regular price. Activities available in the gym include basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, floor hockey and the batting nets. This new program is also being advertised on the "What's New" section of the city's web site. 4. Revitalize the Personal Training Program: This continues to be a challenging area for us at the Recreation Center. Unfortunately there is nothing new to report on in this area. 5. Initiate a Corporate Sales Program: As part of her summer internship program, Holly Kaufbold worked on updating and maintaining records of the many businesses and corporations in the Chanhassen area. Building on this experience, I intend to initiate a policy of discount pricing on our punch cards for the employees of those businesses that have been active sponsors of special events in Chanhassen. 6. Actively Search for New Programming Ideas: I plan to include new programs in Kung-Fu and Tai-Chi in the winter edition of the Chanhassen Connection.
