CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Hamilton called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Watson moved, seconded by Johnson to approve the minutes as pre-
sented. Motion unanimously approved.
PETITION FOR FRONT YARD SETBACK VARIANCE FOR AN ACCESSORY
BUILDING, BUD ANDRUS, APPLICANT
Hamilton questioned why the cul-de-sac was straight on the side
of the Andrus property. Dacy answered that it was probably due
to construction limitations.
Johnson stated the City was trying to reduce crowding of neigh-
borhoods through the enforcement of setback ordinances and there-
fore had reservations on granting a setback variance. Watson
agreed that there was space for the garage to be built within the
requirements of the ordinance, but that she understood why Andrus
would want to save his sumac trees. Andrus stated that if the
garage was built where it was required, it would be right next to
his neighbor's house which is on his property.
Hamilton said he had no problem with granting the variance due to
the unusual topography, his neighbor's consent and that the trees
are a benefit.
Johnson asked Dacy what the distance would be between the pro-
posed garage and the lot to the west. Dacy answered that there
would be 5 feet. Dacy also stated that the property was
unbuildable due to poor soil conditions.
It was acknowledged by Dacy that the cul-de-sac has a radius of
60 feet which is 10 feet over the required 50 foot radius.
Johnson offered to compromise and allow a 10 foot variance
instead.
Watson moved, seconded by Johnson to approve the Variance Request
~84-19 allowing the placement of a 22' x 22' garage to within 10
feet of the front lot line at 3940 Hawthorne Circle. All voted
in favor and the motion carried.
Hamilton moved, seconded by Watson to adjourn the meeting at 7:05
p.m. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
