MEMBERS PRESENT: Willard Johnson, Carol Watson and Dale Geving
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Jo Ann Olsen, Assistant City Planner
A 12 FOOT FRONT YARD, 3 FOOT SIDE YARD, 13,000 SQUARE FOOT LOT
AREA AND A 40 FOOT LOT WIDTH VARIANCE TO CONSTRUCT A SINGLE
FAMILY RESIDENCE, 3629 RED CEDAR POINT, LINDA JOHNSON
Olsen presented the staff report to the Board.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anding questioned where the porch was
located on the house on the left or right side of the home?
Staff stated that the deck would be on the west side of the home
and a porch would be on the east side and therefore would not De
blocking the Andings view of the lake.
The Andings stated that they did not have any objection to the
variance for the construction of the single family residence and
also stated that the neighbor to the east did not have any objec-
tion to this variance.
Geving moved, seconded by Watson, to close the public hearing.
All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Johnson stated that he had no problem with the variance as pro-
posed.
Geving asked if the existing foundation would be removed?
The Andings stated that there is no foundation now, that it was
just a cabin.
Geving stated that he had no problem with the variance as
requested and felt it would be an improvement for the site.
Watson moved, seconded by Johnson, to approve the 12 foot front
yard, a 3 foot side yard, a 13,000 square foot lot area variance
and a 40 foot lot width variance with the condition that the
drainage from the house be maintained on the site. All voted in
favor and the motion carried.
A 19.6 FOOT FRONT YARD VARIANCE TO ENLARGE AN EXISTING GARAGE,
6691 HORSESHOE CURVE, JAMES AND SANDRA OLSON
Olsen presented the staff report to the Board.
Geving moved, seconded by Watson, to close the public hearing.
Watson stated that this was an improvement with the access and
also it was an improvement to the existing garage.

Geving stated that he felt it was an improvement to the site and
a variance was necessary because of the existing features and was
in favor of the variance.
Johnson stated that he did not want any parking to continue on
the existing driveway.
Mrs. Olson stated that they would not park in that area.
Geving moved, seconded by Watson, to approve the 19.6 foot front
yard variance with no conditions. All voted in favor and the
motion carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Watson moved, seconded by Johnson to approve the September 14,
1987 minutes as written. Watson and Johnson voted in favor.
Geving abstained. Motion carried.
Watson stated that she would like the information on clearcutting
that the DNR Forester submitted to the City Council.
Geving moved, seconded by Watson, to adjourn the meeting at 6:50
p.m.
