Staffing
Andy Sauter has re-joined the staff at the Recreation Center. Andy has a
thorough knowledge of the policies and practices of our department as well as
the software we use to process program registrations and facility reservations.
With the addition of Andy, we are at full staffing levels.
Programs
The winter programming season has begun. Two of our largest programs,
Preschool sports (Session 1, basketball) and Dance for Fun have begun classes.
In both cases, enrollments have met or exceeded our expectations. The annual
Halloween Party and Breakfast with Santa events were both recently held at the
Recreation Center. Ongoing programs include Pilates, yoga, tae kwon do,
jazzercise, and fitness classes. Jazzercise classes have been moved into the
Recreation Center proper after being held in the warming house since March.
Later this season the Recreation Center will host a self-defense class for kids,
chess club, babysitting training, a variety of arts and crafts classes, and of course
the Daddy/Daughter Date Night in February.
Facility Notes
The Recreation Center is operating on the seasonal schedule detailed above. The
Recreation Center was a polling place for school board elections November 6.
The City of Chanhassen · A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.

Meeting room reservations are coming in for the winter season. There are
several evenings through January when all of our meeting rooms are already
reserved.
2007 Strategic Plan - December Update
1. Jazzercise: Jazzercise classes have been moved into the Recreation Center
proper for at least the winter months. Rental receipts from Jazzercise for
March - November have been $4,895.94.
2. Additional Sports and Arts Programming: The Recreation Center
continues to explore opportunities for growth in this area. This fall we have
added a self -defense program for children ages 3-5; a second session will be
offered in February. Future growth in this area will likely come in
partnership with outside organizations or individuals who have programming
to offer, but need facilities.
3: Develop Party Packages: Party packages at the Recreation Center were
introduced in the Fall Connection. Package pricing provides for 1 free hour
of party room rental with 1 hour of gym rental at our regular price.
Activities available in the gym include basketball, volleyball, dodgeball,
floor hockey and the batting nets. Five such party packages have been
reserved for the month of December.
4. Revitalize the Personal Training Program: This continues to be a
challenging area for us at the Recreation Center. Recently Carla Deraney,
one of our Group Fitness instructors, received certification as a personal
trainer. She has already worked with 2 new clients providing some measure
of optimism moving forward.
5. Initiate a Corporate Sales Program: As part of her summer internship
program, Holly Kaufhold worked on updating and maintaining our records
on the many businesses and corporations in the Chanhassen area. Building
on this experience, I intend to initiate a policy of discount pricing on our
punch cards for the employees of those businesses that haye been active
sponsors of special events in Chanhassen. I should be ready offer the
discount program early in 2008.
6. Actively Search for New Programming Ideas: New programs in Kung-Fu
and Tai-Chi were introduced in the Winter Connection catalog. We have
had no registrations for these classes as yet.
