SENIOR COMMISSION MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
June 17, 2005
Chairman Robinson called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mel Kurvers, Bobbie Headla, and Jean Mancini, Curt
Robinson, Pat McGough, and Marilyn Luthy.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Dale Geving.
STAFF PRESENT: Sharmeen AI-Jaff and Susan Bill.
VISITORS: None.
Approval of agenda: McGough moved, Kurvers seconded the motion to approve the
minutes. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Approval of Minutes dated April 15, 2005: Commissioner Headla moved, commissioner
McGough seconded the motion to approve the minutes with a change reflecting
Commissioners Geving and Luthy were absent from the meeting. All voted in favor and
the motion carried.
Update on Volunteer Opportunities: Commissioner Robinson, Commissioner
McGough, Dave Headla, as well as a Minnetonka resident who is a retired Information
Technologist (IT), have signed up as volunteers to teach seniors how to use computers.
There are three interested individuals who have signed up.
Updated on Senior Parking sign: The Legion does not want senior signs. They have
handicapped signs and all their members are seniors.
Senior Commission Update: The Senior Center is being examined as a satellite for Saint
Thomas\or Crown Collage. District 112 could use the center as a sub location.
The "Coffee Time" subject should be added to the senior commission's regular agenda.
Commissioner Robertson will check with Cub Foods regarding donuts.
Commissioner McGough attended the senior advisory board. She appreciated being there
and the board appreciated having her. Commissioner Mancini will attend the next meeting
and Commission Headla will attend the September meeting.
Adjournment: Commissioner Kurvers moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner
Mancini seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
