Head: One piece cast aluminum, 3;;6" wall thickness with external reveal
unifying heao and shaft. Attachment to shaft is by four bolts concealed
within the head.
Shaft: One piece extruded aluminum with internal tracks for attaching
head and base.
Base: One piece cast aluminum secured to shaft by four concealed
stainless steel bolts.
Reflector and Socket: Formed specular Alzaks reflector panels secured
to a harness which holds a porcelain medium base 4KV socket
(11.1.0. and Incandescent), GX24q - Universal Socket (42W Fluorescent).

Lens: Clear flat \Is" thick tempered glass retained by two stainless steel
brackets, and four stainless steel, hex socket cap screws, fully gasketed.
Ballast: Factory mounted to rigid harness suspended from fixture head
within the shaft. Wire leads supplied to base. H.I.D.: High power factor with
starting temperatures of -20oF. for MH and -40oF. for HPS lamp modes.
13W Fluorescent: 120V 320F. starti ng, 277V OOF. starting.
26W, 32W, 42W Fluorescent: High power factor with starting
temperature of OOF.
Anchor Bolts: Four 3fs" x 10" + 2" zinc plated L-hooks complete with
leveling nuts, washers, couplings, rigid pressed board template and
black stainless steel bolts.
Finish: Super TGIC thermoset polyester powder coat paint,
2.5 mil nominal thickness, applied over a chromate conversion coating;
2500 rour salt spray test endurance rating. Standard colors are Black,
Dark I3ronze, Light Gray, Platinum Silver, or White. Custom colors are
available and subject to additional charges, minimum quantities and
longer lead times. Consult representative.
Certification: UL Listed to U.S. and Canadian safety standards for wet
locations. Fixture manufacturer shall employ a quality program that is
certified to meet ISO 9001 :2000 standard.
CAUTION: Fixtures must be grounded in accordance with local codes or
the National Electrical Code. Failure to 00 so may result in serious
personal injury. .

DIRECTIONAL
Description
This cast alumiunum faceplate provides an
alternative appearance and performance for the
3100 Series Step lites for HID sources and to the
2153 Series for incandescent and fluorescent
sources. The diffuser faces downward for maxi-
mum illumination to the walkway surface and
minimum visibility to the passerby. The rugged
construction, engineering excellence, and quality
make these fixtures ideal for specification in most
public areas.
Features
The lens in the faceplate is vertically ribbed
to provide side spread of illumination and the
internal reflector and lamp placement provide
a downward throw of light. The angle of the
lens minimizes the visibility of the lens and the
brightness seen with it. The smooth, rounded
faceplate projects outward slightly to shield the
lens from physical damage. Cole Steplites feature
a cast aluminum junction box which may be eas-
ily field mounted to either the back or bottom of
the housing to best suit installation conditions.
Applications
The 21530/31000 Series Step lites are suitable
for concrete pour/block wall mounting in outdoor
installations The fluorescent F21530 is also
suitable for indoor installations. They are ideal
in walls, ramps, and stairwells where high light
levels are desirable.

The isolux curves illustrated above show the
footcandle distribution for a 31000 Series fixture
with a SOW clear HPS lamp mounted at a height
of 2'-0". The conversion chart provides the light
output figures for various lamp types at four
mounting heights. The lamp height determines
the scale of the grid, i.e., for a fixture mounted at
3'-0" the grid becomes 3'-0" x 3'-0". To calculate
the footcandles for each iso curve use the con-
version factors shown in the chart as multipliers
of the footcandles indicated for each iso curve.

16 gauge steel finished with a white 110lyester
coating. Faceplate is cast aluminum with
metallic aluminum 110wder coating, gasketed and
retained by stainless steel screws · Diffuser is
ribbed tempered glass set in silicone sealant
· Reflector is constructed of die-formed semi-
specular aluminum. Junction box is cast
aluminum with polyester coating; optional on
fluorescent models, standard on HID models

Electrical
. Fixture is wired for lamps of varying types and
