REGULAR MEETING
SUMMARY MINUTES
MAY 27, 2009
Chairman Daniel called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Jeff Daniel, Glenn Stolar, Steve Scharfenberg, Scott Wendt, Thor
Smith and Elise Ryan
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Tom Kelly
STAFF PRESENT:
Todd Hoffman, Park and Rec Director; and Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation
Superintendent
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:Stolar moved, Wendt seconded to approve the agenda as
presented. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0.
PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:
None.
VISITOR PRESENTATIONS:
None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:Stolar moved, Scharfenberg seconded to approve the
verbatim and summary minutes of the Park and Recreation Commission meeting dated
April 28, 2009 as presented. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a
vote of 6 to 0.
DISCUSS FINDINGS FROM PROJECT TOURS.
In reviewing the sites from the Park and Recreation Commission tour prior to the meeting, Todd
Hoffman discussed the possibility of trails along Pleasant View Road, the extension of the
Highway 101 trail north of Pleasant View Road, trails on Pioneer Trail, Bluff Creek, the new
high school and the connection from Lifetime to the Arboretum.
RECREATION PROGRAM REPORTS:
LAKE ANN PARK SUMMER SCHEDULE.
Jerry Ruegemer reviewed the beach, concession
and lifeguard schedule, and picnic reservations. Commissioner Stolar asked about discounting
the shelter rental fees for last minute reservations.
2009 SUMMER PROGRAMS REPORT.
Jerry Ruegemer reviewed the programs being
provided over the summer, noting one event not in the report is a partnership between the City,
M&I Bank and the Miracle Kids Foundation in presenting an outdoor movie at Lake Ann Park.

SELF-SUPPORTING PROGRAMS: 2009 ADULT SOFTBALL UPDATE.
Jerry
Ruegemer provided an update on the 2009 adult softball season. Chairman Daniel asked for
clarification of the beer on the bench rule.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
CHANHASSEN VETERANS MONUMENT DEDICATION.
Todd Hoffman provided a
recap of the work that went into constructing and organizing the dedication ceremony for the
veterans monument prior to commission members providing their comments on the event.
JUNE BIKE TOUR.
The commission reviewed the proposed route for the council/
commission/city staff June bike tour. Todd Hoffman asked for feedback on making the event a
family picnic or strictly a bike tour for council and commission members.
COMMISSION MEMBER COMMITTEE REPORTS.
None.
COMMISSION MEMBER PRESENTATIONS.
Commissioner Stolar discussed options for
enlarging the ballfield concession facility at Lake Ann Park. Commissioner Ryan asked about
Lifetime Fitness programming in the city.
Smith moved, Wendt seconded to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor and the motion
carried unanimously with a vote of 6 to 0.
