Recreation Center Updates
FACILITY INFORMATION
Both the Chanhassen Recreation Center and Bluff Creek Elementary School are
undergoing a full sprinkler head replacement. The heads are faulty and have
been recalled. Over 700 heads will be replaced in the facility, and service will
be coordinated so activities will not be disrupted.
The Rec Center is now on the summer schedule. The Rec Center is closed on
Sundays and has shortened hours throughout the week. The annual maintenance
closure is scheduled for August 21-September 7 (Labor Day). The facility will
go through deep cleaning and floor resurfacing in the gym and studio.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
Aerobics - The Rec Center started a registration-based aerobics program in
June. All 3 classes met the required minimums to continue offering this fitness
serVIce.
Dance for Fun -A full program recital was held at the Eden Prairie High School
Performing Arts Center on May 9th with 3 separate performances. Over 200
dancers participated and 970 tickets were sold. Two senior dancers will be
leaving the program and going on to college this year. There are summer camps
and clinics for the dancers to continue to build their skills. 2008-2009
participants received a $10 discount coupon for the fall program if they
registered for fall programs by June 30.
EnhanceFitness - This program is now managed by the Recreation Center. It is
a senior fitness program offered through a grant with MAAA through UCare.
Seventeen seniors are participating in the current session.
Preschool Sports - The age 4-6 sports program continues to be popular. We
have 114 preschoolers participating in the first session of t-ball.

MISCELLANEOUS
Art Gallery - The artwork of Southwest Christian High School students is
currently on display at the Rec Center through June. The school hosted an open
house for families and friends on June 4th.
Birthday Party Packages - The Rec Center birthday party packages continue
to be a popular, affordable party for our residents. We have hosted 36 parties
(January - May) this year. The packages include two hours in a meeting room
and one hour of exclusive gym time complete with gym toys for $55.
Marketing - The Rec Center continues to promote programs through email
blasts and program flyers. As a part of the 4th of July brochure, the Rec Center
also received a full color, 1,4 page ad.
Rental Evaluations - The Recreation Center is now administering quarterly
rental evaluations to our customers. Forty surveys were emailed in April. We
are using an online service, Survey Monkey, to collect the responses. We
received 13 replies (33% response rate) with very favorable ratings.
Upcoming Activities - The Recreation Supervisor and Rec Center Manager will
be operating the preschool and after school sports programs beginning Fall
2009. The first preschool activity is soccer and the first after school activity is a
dodgeball league.
