SENIOR COMMISSION MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
April 15, 2005
Chairman Robinson called the meeting to order at 10:00a.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT
: Mel Kurvers, Bobbie Headla, and Jean Mancini, Curt
Robinson, Pat McGough.
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Marilyn Luthy and Dale Geving.
STAFF PRESENT
: Sharmeen Al-Jaff.
VISITORS:
None.
Approval of agenda:
McGough moved, Kurvers seconded the motion to approve the

minutes. All voted in favor and the motion carried
Approval of Minutes dated February 18, 2005
: Commissioner Robinson moved,
commissioner McGough seconded the motion to approve the minutes. All voted in favor

Election of Officers:
Headla moved, Mancini seconded the motion to elect Curt
Robinson as the Chair. Robinson moved, Headla seconded the motion to elect Jean
Mancini as the vise chair. All voted in favor.
Approval of By-Laws:
Jean moved, Mel seconded the motion to approve the by-laws
with changes to section 1.6 to require the commission to hold public meetings instead of
public hearings. The second change was for section 2.3 to require the commission
members to attend not less than 70% of meetings and not to miss two consecutive
meetings. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
Goals and Objectives for 2005 and Joint Meeting with the City Council:
Staff
presented the goals and objectives to the commission. Volunteer opportunities was added
as a new goal.
Volunteer opportunities for seniors
: Commissioner Robinson stated that the City has
been very kind to the seniors in the community and wishes to return the gesture by
providing an opportunity for seniors to volunteer their time to the city. The commission
suggested volunteering through the school system, library, and park Nicollet. Computer
training was also discussed.
Living the Good Life Expo:
Staff informed the commission that if they wished to
register for the expo, to let staff know. All commissioners present were interested.
Updated Chanhassen Resident Guide (including transportation).
Staff updated the
resident guide to include senior transportation systems.
Minnesota Living Well survey:
Staff asked the commissioners to return their surveys if
they had not done so yet.
Adjournment:
Commissioner Kurvers moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner
Headla seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
