Senior Center Activities Update
Summer programs and trips went well. Daily attendance for regular activities tends to slow
down a little in the summer as people are out of town more. In an effort to be
conscientious of the economy, I offered several lower cost or free programs and activities
that were closer to home. Please see the attached Senior Center Fall Newsletter for
upcommg programs.
Highlighted programs and trips include:
. Group tours of the Chanhassen High School: 60+ in attendance.
. Carver County Mounted Posse Presentation: Two posse members explained the
program and brought a horse to demonstrate how they are used in the law
enforcement.
. Donuts with the Deputies: Lt. Olson brought a patrol car and explained all the
features of the car.
. Friday Afternoon Cribbage
. Passport of the W orId Programs: .
- Andrew Peterson Farm Visit
- African Adventure Program
- Music of Many Cultures Presentation
. Summer Specials:
- Ladies Tea Luncheon and Style Show (5th annual)
- Ice Cream Social and Concert in the Park. This event included an
opportunity for participants to meet the Senior Commission and
Senior Advisory Board.
. Day Trips:
- Summer Pops Concert at Nicollet Island
- Minnesota Riverboat Cruise and Show
- Minnesota Twins Game
