BUDGET REVIEW/REGANOMICS: Don Ashworth was present at the meeting to discuss
Budget Review and Reganomics. He informed the Commission that there may be a
problem in maintaining the parks this year because of a potential cut off of
funds for the youth work program. They will not know if there will be funding
until March or April. A list of options should be ready by the first of ~1arch
to be presented to the Commission.
There was a discussion on changing the fee schedule on gate fees at Lake Ann,
reducing park services and having no gate keeper program. Suggestions regarding
the fee change were: a $5.00 resident fee for park entry, a $2.00 daily charge
and a $15.00 non-resident fee. It was suggested that an announcement be inserted in
the newsletter with a description of the park and its services with a reminder to
buy resident stickers.
Mayor Tom Hamilton attended the meeting also to discuss the fee schedule. He informed
the Commission that the single family dwelling and commercial construction fees
were being changed. He asked for a date for the City Council and the Park and
Recreation Commission to meet to discuss ideas about where they are going and what
we would like to see accomplished. A date was set for the April meeting. His
suggestions to the Commission regarding the fee schedule were: A $25.00 non-resident
season fee, a $1.00 per vehicle fee and a $.50 per person fee. He suggested that a
flyer with the general rules of the park be printed and distributed.
.
LEGION BASEBALL FIELD: The Legion asked for a change in the Comprehensive Plan to
have their baseball field rezoned as cow~ercial property. The Council approved this
request and it now goes for hearings. A suggestion was made by Michael Lynch that
staff notify the CAA Legion team that there is a possibility that there will be no
other field available to them and that they look into other facilities such as the
high school field.
