2009/2010 Ice Rink Season Evaluation
This year's ice skating rink season ran from December 18, 2009 to February 28,2010
with roughly 9,687 participants recorded during supervised hours. Warming houses
were offered at City Center Park, North Lotus Park, and the Chanhassen Recreation
Center. In addition, the warming house at Roundhouse Park was staffed with reduced
hours on weekends and select holidays. We also had a pleasure rink at Rice Marsh Lake
Park; however, it was unsupervised without a warming house. This season, warming
houses were open 67 days and were closed 5 days due to high temperatures, low
temperatures, or poor surface conditions.

Warming house trailers were rented for North Lotus Park and City Center Park. Once
again we used Mobile Minis for the warming house trailer rentals. These trailers sit
flush on the ground and do not require steps to gain entrance into the structure. The
inside of the trailers are one complete open room allowing for direct visual contact
between the rink attendant and participants. Both of these attributes contribute to greater
overall safety during the ice skating experience.
The Secret Skater evaluation program was. created and implemented this year to
anonymously evaluate the rink staff. These evaluations, completed by volunteers, were
turned into staff for review. Meetings were then held. with attendants to review and sign
the evaluation form. This was a successful process that worked well in conjunction with
visits from staff. I would recommend continuing this evaluation process in the future.
Rink Attendant wages totaled $11,842.63 with a total of 1,522.25 hours worked.
