Senior Comments: •
Things at Centennial Hill are in a uproar. Flooding problems due to a broken water
pipe. There were 2 apartments badly damaged, and 4 total that were flooded.
There will be a 3% raise in apartment rent this year. This could possibly happen
every year. One apartment available at this time. Sharmin Al -Jaff suggested that
all residents document their complaints so they have something valid to show to
management.
Concern about adding new activities to an already booked schedule. Suggestions
by Kara were made to have a early evening course or exchange summer /spring
schedules with winter /fall schedules.
Dale Geving expressed concern about possible and much needed expansion to the
Chanhassen Library. Dale suggested that this be made a Senior Commission goal,
but Sharmin Al -Jaff advised that this may was more than just a senior issue.
A small discussion was made in regards to historic preservation. The Senior
Commission will continue to support this under their by -laws.
•
• Sherol brought up an issue regarding reading materials and the difficulties of
reading smaller print, as well as reading print on colored paper. Vision becomes
more impaired when print is on a bright or dark colored paper. Sherol suggested
that if there were any comments to be made, that they should be directed to
Barbara Montgomery. Suggestions were also made to ask Barbara Montgomery to
write a letter to the editor regarding this issue.
After several discussions on new items, Bobbie Headla suggested that the current
goals be kept priority and to focus on these before adding any new ones.
Meeting adjourned. Next meeting will be on Friday, May 23rd, at 9:30am in the
Council Chambers.
