BACKGROUND Staff has reviewed the City Code relative to state statute. The proposed amendment pertains to political campaign signs. Staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance amendments. ANALYSIS Issue: The date of state primaries was changed to the second Tuesday in August and the sign provision in state law was amended accordingly. The new law went into effect immediately when the Governor signed it on March 3, 2010. This is the new requirement: Planning & Minnesota Sessions Laws 2010 Chapter 184 Natural Resources Sec. 42.
