The City originally supported the application by pledging a $125,000 matching contribution. However, project engineering and increased project costs have resulted in the City share of the budget to be re- estimated at $400,000. Justification I A pedestrian underpass to Minnewashta Regional Park is a highly sought after improvement. The project also completes a one mile section of trail adjacent to State Highway 41 identified in the City's Comprehensive Plan. Justification I The Highway 212 improvement project included a pedestrian trail along the first 2,000 feet of Bluff Creek Drive. The resulting trail "gap" represents a missing link in the City's trail system. Bluff Creek Drive is a difficult stretch of road to negotiate as a pedestrian in the absence of a trail.
