2009 01 21 SENIOR COMMISSION MINUTES REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 21, 2008 Chairman Robinson called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. MEMBERS PRESENT : Curt Robinson, Fred Prinz, Barbara Nevin, Virginia Prior, Carol Buesgens, Pat McGough. MEMBERS ABSENT: Charlie Robbins. STAFF PRESENT : Sharmeen Al-Jaff. VISITORS: None. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner Prinz moved, Commissioner Nevin . seconded the motion to approve the agenda. All voted in favor and the motion carried APPROVAL OF MINUTES DATED NOVEMBER 21, 2008: Commissioner Prinz moved, Commissioner Nevin seconded the motion. All voted in favor with the exception of Commissioner Robbins, and the motion carried. CARVER COUNTY HOUSING CONFERENCE RECAP: The commission discussed the cooperative living concept. They were impressed with the presence of elected officials at the conference. They unanimously agreed that they benefited from the conference. TRANSIT: Chairman Robinson reported that both he and Commissioner Robbins met with Alan Herman with CART. They are currently volunteer drivers from Chanhassen. There is another volunteer driver from Chanhassen by the name of Erich Weidner. CART currently pays 50¢ per mile. The commission directed staff to contact CART and arrange a meeting with the Villager. COMMISSIONERS TERMS: Staff reported that there are three expiring terms. They include Commissioners Nevin, Prior and McGough. SENIOR PARKING SIGNS: Chairman Robinson supplied a list of all parking signs currently in the city. They included McDonalds, Wendy’s, Park Nicollet Clinic (3), Lakewinds, Community Bank, Klein Bank, Cub Foods, Walgreens, and Perkins Restaurant. Americana Bank Complex and CVS Pharmacy are in progress. Businesses that have rejected the request include The Chanhassen Legion, Culvers, and Target. Future possibilities include Byerly’s, M&I Bank, Kinkos, Office Max, New License Center, Lifetime fitness, Chanhassen Theater, Caribou, Starbucks, and Hotels. SENIOR COMMISSION COMMENTS: Provide Senior Commission attendance sheet from last year. ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Nevin moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner McGough seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
