SENIOR COMMISSION MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
JULY 17, 2009
Chairman Robinson called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT
: Curt Robinson, Fred Prinz, Virginia Prior, Carol
Buesgens, Pat McGough, and Barbara Nevin.
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Charlie Robbins.
STAFF PRESENT
: Sharmeen Al-Jaff.
VISITORS:
Katy Boone, Carver County Public Health Planner.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
Commissioner Buesgens moved,
Commissioner Prior seconded the motion to approve the agenda. All voted

APPROVAL OF MINUTES DATED MAY 15, 2009:
Commissioner
Buesgens moved to approve the minutes. Commissioner Nevin seconded
the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried.
TRANSIT:
The Senior Commission and Staff have not been able to contact
Allan Herman with CART.
FOCUS GROUP:
Katy Boone explained that there will be three age
groups. Each group will consist of 7 to 10 people. The August Senior
Commission meeting will cover the survey for the Focus Group. The Senior
Commission members may not serve as part of the focus group due to their
intimate knowledge of issues facing the aging population. Work on the
study may begin in the Fall of 2009.
SENIOR PARKING SIGNS:
Commissioner Nevin reported that the
Chanhassen Cinema will install “Senior Parking” signs.
EDUCATION ON MATTERS CONCERNING SENIORS:
No update.
SENIOR COMMISSION COMMENTS:
Staff discussed an incident in
which a senior couple living in Chanhassen has illegal outdoor storage in their
yard. Staff is working with the county to assist them in the cleanup of their
yard.

Commissioner Prior moved to adjourn the meeting,
Commissioner Buesgens seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the
motion carried.
