2007 06 15 SENIOR COMMISSION MINUTES REGULAR MEETING June 15, 2007 Chairman Robinson called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. MEMBERS PRESENT : Curt Robinson, Virginia Prior, Pat McGough, Charlie Robbins. MEMBERS ABSENT: Carol Buesgens, Jean Mancini, Barbara Nevin. STAFF PRESENT : Sharmeen Al-Jaff, Sue Bill. VISITORS: None. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner Robbibns, Commissioner McGough . seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There were none since the previous meeting focused on the City Council/Senior Commission joint meeting. SENIOR COMMISSION OPEN HOUSE-FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2007: The commission will sponsor its third annual open house. There will be a free continental breakfast on Friday, September 21, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. The open house will be held at the Chanhassen Senior Center. Bagels will be served between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Check with Jean Mancini to find out if her friend can play the Piano. Check with the following places to see if they can donate donuts, bagels or bars: CJ’s, Lake Winds, Caribou, Star Bucks. The focus of this open house will be Safety. The program will consist of a presentation by Ed Coppersmith, Chanhassen’s Fire Inspector/Deputy Fire Marshal regarding In Home Emergency Preparedness and the launching of the I.C.E. program. The commission discussed issues that may be beneficial to seniors such as How to use a fire extinguisher, smoke, radon, carbon monoxide detector, ect. This presentation will be followed by a Congregate Dining Lunch. Commissioner Robbins offered the services of Klein Bank’s Security and Fraud Manager. It was decided that the second half of the program will be a presentation by Gary Motzko, Security and Fraud Manager, Klein Corporation on Fraud and Identity Theft. SENIOR COMMISSION COMMENTS: The commission discussed the potential of giving the senior center a new name. Adjournment: Commissioner McGough moved to adjourn the meeting.
