2008 11 21 SENIOR COMMISSION MINUTES REGULAR MEETING November 21, 2008 Chairman Robinson called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. MEMBERS PRESENT : Curt Robinson, Fred Prinz, Barbara Nevin, Virginia Prior, Carol Buesgens, Charlie Robbins, Pat McGough. MEMBERS ABSENT: None. STAFF PRESENT : Sharmeen Al-Jaff, Sue Bill. VISITORS: Katy Boone. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Commissioner Prinz moved, Commissioner Nevin . seconded the motion to approve the agenda. All voted in favor and the motion carried APPROVAL OF MINUTES DATED OCTOBER 17, 2008: Commissioner Prinz moved, Commissioner Nevin seconded the motion. All voted in favor with the exception of Commissioner Robbins, and the motion carried. CARVER COUNTY HOUSING CONFERENCE AND CAREGIVER RESOURCES AND SUPPORT INITIATIVE: Katy Boone reported that in 20 years, the senior population in Carver County will double. Chanhassen will not see the same increase as the rest of the county. Cities within the county need to think differently. A concept of a Beacon Hill Village model with the idea of bringing services of a retirement community to seniors at their own homes, allowing them to stay close to family and friends. TRANSIT: Chairman Robinson reported that a meeting took place on November 5, 2008. In attendance were Curt Robinson, Katy Boone, Alan Herman and Sharmeen Al-Jaff. CART needs volunteer drivers. Sue Bill stated that she announced the need for volunteer drivers during DEFENSIVE DRIVING 55 ALIVE class. The commission asked if CART has a sheet of frequently asked questions. Volunteers can be recruited from the Lion’s Club, Klein Bank, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Legion Group. ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Robbins moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Prinz seconded the motion. All voted in favor and the motion carried. NEXT MEETIN DECEMBER 19, 2008: Next meeting will be held at Perkins Restaurant. Sharmeen will make reservations.
