Chanhassen Recreation Center
• Invested $9,882.73 in new fitness equipment upgrades:
o New treadmill
o Octane elliptical
o Rowing machine
• Provided 1,207 hours of facility space through meeting rooms and gymnasium to area
community groups and government organizations
• Facility rental revenue increased $6,152.03 over 2009
• Offered 51 adult programs which resulted in $21,977.99 in revenue
• In its 14 year, the Dance for Fun program offered 101 classes with 526 participants. Total net
profit after expenses was $22,534.70.
Chanhassen Recreation Center Sports
• 38 sports sessions with 696 participants and 80 volunteer coaches
• 96% satisfied or very satisfied customer survey rating
• Revenue of $29,712.87 with a net profit of $7,912.91
Youth Programs
• Summer Discovery Playground had 427 participants
• Restructured Summer Sensations program, which increased enrollment — added program at
the Lake Susan picnic shelter
• Increased program marketing by expanding use of Facebook
Adaptive Recreation
• Served 20 children and adults through programs and special events
• REACH for Resources hosted their annual picnic at Lake Susan park
Adult Athletics
• 57 teams participated in the summer and fall leagues with 850 individuals
• Softball revenues were $25,136 with expenditures of $16,615
Community Events
• 4 of July — great success with new programs, including Minnesota Twins camp and 3- on -3
basketball tournament
• Annual sponsorship program totaled $30,590 in donations
• Tree lighting ceremony was one of the largest attended

Partnerships
• Developed more than 60 partnerships that involved all divisions of our department
Facilities
• Warming houses open 67 days during season
• Rink user numbers totaled 9,687
• Skate park recorded over 4,900 users while an attendant was on duty
(May 24 to August 27)
• 20,000 swimmers enjoyed Lake Ann Beach while lifeguards were on duty
• 99 pavilion/shelter rentals with an estimated 10,000 users
Park Maintenance
• Mowed 383 acres weekly, plus additional 45 acres two times per week for a total of 428 acres
• Annually maintain 71.8 miles of trails
• Sentenced to Serve (adult/juvenile), Minnetonka High School Senior Service Day and St.
Hubert's Summer Stretch performed 578 volunteer hours
Park Improvements
• Removed 63 diseased elm trees from parks and trails
• Lake Ann steps project connecting Hilltop shelter to the swimming beach
Capital Improvement Projects
• Five items with costs ranging from $10,000 to $400,000, totaling $545,000
Compilation of the annual report requires dedication and commitment by all staff members of the
Park & Recreation Department. Their dedication is evident by this impressive report! The report
will be available on the city's web site or can be obtained by contacting city hall.
